In this Zoom workshop we will be creating 3-5 miniature artworks to then be arranged in your very own shoe box gallery.
Inspired by the Masterpieces in Miniature exhibition, installation artist Katharyn Owen will lead you in this mixed media workshop that will show you how to turn recycled objects into your own versions of well-known works from our collection, including Jann Haworth’s Cowboy, Henri Matisse’s Dancer and Gavin Turk’s Dump.
Our online workshops will be delivered via Zoom. You will need an internet device with webcam in order to take part. Prior to the workshop please ensure you have registered for a free Zoom account here.
Your ticket includes an art materials pack that we will send to you in the post before the workshop, which will contain:
- Paper
- A small play figure
- Templates and diagrams to help you create a shoe box if you need to.
You will also need to provide:
- A shoe box
- Scissors
- Flour and small pot of water
- Tape
- A small piece of bin bag
- Soap
- Paper
- Toilet roll
- Pritt stick or other glue
- Black pen
- Colouring materials of your choice – paint, pencil, crayon, chalks, pastels, plasticine, card or pen.

Important Information:
Participants: We ask that you attend the workshop in comfortable clothes (some activity will be on the floor).
Supervision: Adults need to support their child throughout the session.
Our Staff/Artist Educators: Staff are DBS checked by the Gallery prior to the workshop start date.

Recording: Our online sessions are not recorded, unless specified.
Photographs: We may wish to use photographs you share of you, your child, or their artwork on our website or social media for marketing purposes. Please let us know, when sharing children’s work via email, if you do not consent to this usage.
