Leave a Cultural Legacy
A lasting way to support art and culture
A gift in your Will is a meaningful way to reflect your connection with Pallant House Gallery, while helping to ensure that art and culture continue to enrich lives for generations to come.
Whether you choose to leave a financial gift, remember someone special, or bequeath an artwork or collection, your support will make a lasting difference to the Gallery’s future.
“Pallant House Gallery has given me pleasure, stimulus, friendship and joy. Hardly surprising then that I want to leave something to the Gallery in my Will, so that future generations might enjoy it as I did.”
– A long-term Gallery Guide and supporter
Pledging a gift in your Will
Leaving a legacy is an important decision, and we recommend seeking advice from a solicitor when making or updating your Will.
There are many different ways to make a gift in your Will. You may choose to leave a proportion of your estate (residual), a set sum of cash (pecuniary), or a particular object or artwork (specific).

Our Legacy Programme
We are deeply grateful to those who choose to remember the Gallery in their Will.
Our community of legacy supporters shares a strong commitment to the Gallery’s future. As part of this circle, you will be invited to a dedicated annual event, alongside special opportunities including private views and behind-the-scenes experiences.

“We are leaving both cash and artworks to Pallant House Gallery because we believe in the importance of what it does. We admire the marvellous exhibitions it mounts, the maintenance and expansion of its world-class art collection and its imaginative, community-centred programmes. These improve the quality of all our lives.”
– Helen and Keith Clark have been long-term benefactors to the Gallery and Keith has also been a valued Trustee.
Donate in Memory
Making a gift in memory is a thoughtful way to celebrate the life of someone who found joy in art. Your donation can honour their connection to the Gallery while supporting its work into the future.

Leave an Artwork
The Gallery’s collection has been shaped over time through the generosity of donors and legacy gifts.
If you are considering leaving an artwork, we encourage you to speak with us in advance. Our Collections Development Policy guides how we acquire works, ensuring they complement the collection and can be properly cared for.
Through the Acceptance in Lieu scheme, it may be possible to pay Inheritance Tax by transferring culturally or historically significant objects and archives to the Gallery. As Pallant House Gallery is a public museum, it may be possible for you to offer objects on the condition that they are allocated to us.

“Pallant House Gallery has been a beacon in our lives for more than fifteen years. We have supported the Gallery since then and our joint Wills include bequests of both funds and paintings in gratitude for the great joy it gives us.”
– Alan Swerdlow and Jeremy Greenwood have already donated artwork and have been Patrons for many years.
