On-Demand Talks
Kaye Donachie: In Conversation
£5
In a conversation with director Simon Martin, artist Kaye Donachie will share her inspirations, her creative process, and the emotional connections she forges between her subjects and viewers. Together they will explore her distinct colour palette and use of light and how Kaye's atmospheric paintings capture the essence of a bygone era, reimagining the lives of often-marginalised modernist performers, actresses and poets.
Jake Grewal: In Conversation
£5
Together with our Assistant Curator Dr Lydia Miller, Grewal discusses his practice and the exhibition Some days I feel more alive, on display at Pallant House Gallery until 21 April 2024. In his exhibition, Grewal intertwines charcoal drawings and paintings of landscapes where nude figures seamlessly merge with the rich, dusky surroundings. Employing his personal photographs and sketches, Grewal crafts his art and frequently paints outside, capturing nature's raw essence in his visuals.
In Conversation: Tacita Dean
£5
Renowned artist Tacita Dean speaks to our director, Simon Martin, about her film 'Crackers', created for the exhibition 'John Craxton: A Modern Odyssey'. Dean also explores her inspirations and her wider work.
In Conversation: Ian Collins
£5
Ian Collins, John Craxton's award-winning biographer, will reveal how the life of an artist adventurer was mirrored in his work. We will be taken on a voyage from wartime darkness to Aegean light - following a heroic hedonist as he journeys into joyful colour.
