Drop your child off for all three workshops or select a workshop of your choosing – it’s up to you!
All three workshops focus on exhibitions currently on display, from Carrington to Hambling your child will learn new art techniques each day.
These workshops are designed for ages 10-13.
Buy all three 10+ workshops (15th/16th/17th April) for £50.
Wednesday 16th April, Patterns: Printmaking
Create fun shapes – and repeat! We will be inspired by patterns from our collection display to design your own unique screenprinted fabric that will then be attached to your embroidery hoop to hang at home!
- What is screenprinting? It is a printing technique that transfers ink onto a mesh screen except onto areas where the stencil is.

Tuesday 15th April, Carrington: Decorative Tile Making
Design a clay tile! Inspired by Carrington’s domestic designs, use your own illustrations you will create a tile that represents an important day, person or place!
You will be using scraffito techniques and coloured slip to paint and add details to your very own tile!
Once dry, your tile will be bisque fired. We will let you know when they are ready to collect, if you would like us to post it to you, we will charge an additional £10 for special delivery.
- What is sgraffito? It is a decorating pottery technique to scratch away layers of colour to reveal the colours underneath.
- What is slip? It is a thick mixture of clay and water to be used to paint pottery for decorative purposes.
- What is bisque firing? It is the first firing of ceramic pieces, making unfired bone-dry clay to be more durable with a matt finish.
Thursday 17th April, Maggi Hambling: Mini Nature Scene
Cut out silhouettes of trees and plants to create your own mysterious forest landscape! You will then add metallic pens to create a sparkling setting.
This workshop is inspired by Maggi Hambling’s exhibition, you will be listening to bird song and visiting the exhibition to get ideas along the way!

We ask that you attend the workshop in comfortable clothes (some activity will be on the floor).
We may wish to use photographs you share of you, your child, or their artwork on our website or social media for marketing purposes. Please let us know, when sharing children’s work via email, if you do not consent to this usage

This workshop is designed for parents and guardians to drop their child off, but if you would like to stay you are welcome!
