Art in Lockdown

Celebrating Volunteer’s Week 2020.

During this difficult period, our volunteers have been keeping creative.

Volunteers’ Week takes place 1 – 7 June every year. It’s a chance to celebrate and say thank you for the contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK.

We couldn’t exist without our volunteers, who help us in a wide variety of ways, from safeguarding our collections and exhibitions to supporting our public .

Ordinarily, we usually like to say thank you to our volunteers in person with a special event – for obvious reasons that isn’t possible right now.

While we hope to do something later in the year, we wanted to take the time now to celebrate the creativity of our volunteers by showcasing some of the incredible works they’ve made during lockdown.

We’re hugely impressed at the variety of subject matter, materials and sheer talent – check out our gallery below and click on the image for more details of the artwork.
