Join us as we transform compositions of ordinary household items into works of art with artist Kate Simms.

This workshop has been designed to encourage you to look at found household items with a fresh eye and build confidence in painting a still life.

This fun beginner friendly workshop will cover the basics of still life composition and design. Using a variety of materials and limiting the colours available, we will be learning to simplify the detail within the objects and composition to create harmonious balance. The aim is to get a new perspective on still life and great tips for bringing inspiration to still life composition.

Within this workshop you can expect to learn how to use mixed media to create a simple still life artwork, how to arrange a still life and develop composition by adding and removing objects and highlighting others. We will explore how to simplify a still life artwork by removing object detail, finding the essence of the still life.

All materials are provided, but you may like to bring your own materials and an easel.
