Inspired by William Nicholson’s still life paintings, explore capturing light and reflection in objects using acrylics with artist Kate Simms.
Explore the art of painting highly reflective objects in this practical workshop with artist Kate Simms. Focusing on silver, glass, and other surfaces, you’ll learn how to capture their shine and reflective qualities.
Through short exercises, you will learn how to mix, layer and experiment with acrylic paint to achieve realistic lustre effects, texture and highlights. The techniques demonstrated will enable you to paint a small still life on a canvas board, creating a finished piece revealing the shimmer and reflective qualities of your subject.
During the day, you’ll be able to visit the William Nicholson exhibition, where you can see his still life works up close and gain inspiration from his use of light, form, and reflective surfaces.
This workshop is open to all levels and is suitable for people who have not painted before.
