Helen will guide you through the process of crafting your chosen image using specialised cutting tools, explore various mark-making techniques, and help you bring your creations to life with hands-on printing.
As you delve into this artistic adventure, enjoy tea, coffee, water, and delicious mince pies, making it a delightful day of creativity and holiday cheer. Come and create your own personalised Christmas stationery that’s sure to stand out this season.
Do I need to bring anything?
We will have a selection of festive images and objects to inspire you, please feel free to bring drawing, designs or images, preferable printed, you would like to carve. You could also bring your favourite Christmas ornaments or decorations to work from!
Please wear clothing you don’t mind getting a bit messy as the inks can stain.
Artist educator bio - Helen Friend
Helen is an inspirational and accomplished artist and teacher who is passionate about the arts. She has always immersed herself fully in the creative world, working in both galleries and schools, as well as creating her own work.
Helen has taught art in a range of secondary schools to all levels and abilities. She has recently left a full-time teaching position as Head of Art to focus on her own art practice of ceramics.
The biggest influence on Helen’s own work has been nature and landscape. She uses the process of Raku, where the clay comes together with fire and water to produce dramatic and unexpected results.
