Discover the overlooked artists who made up the ‘Slade set’ in this online talk with Dr. Lydia Miller.
Assistant Curator Dr Lydia Miller will explore the friends who worked alongside Gwen John at the Slade School of Fine Art during the 1890s.
These artists, who were described by their tutor Henry Tonks as the first ‘crisis of brilliance’, were not named a group during their lifetimes. Yet their talent, the informal tutorage that took place between them, and the financial and artistic support that they offered each other, groups these young artists together as true bohemians.
Watch out Bloomsbury Group, here comes the ‘Slade set’.
Tickets cost £5 giving you access to the live talk and a link to a recording of the talk, if you would like to watch it back or are unable to attend the live session.
