This event has passed.

2021 marks the 60th anniversary of Graham Sutherland’s Noli me Tangere, commissioned by Walter Hussey when he was Dean of Chichester Cathedral. It portrays the moment when Mary Magdalene discovers the tomb of Christ lying empty and on encountering Christ resurrected, mistakes him for a gardener.

To mark the 60th anniversary of this extraordinary work, The Chancellor of Chichester Cathedral, The Reverend Canon Daniel Inman and Director of Pallant House Gallery Simon Martin will be exploring the painting’s significance from their different perspectives in an online event.

This talk will be delivered via Zoom.

Already busy that day? Not to worry, everyone who books a ticket will be emailed a recording of the talk a few days later, even if they were unable to attend the talk live.

Once you have booked your ticket, instructions on how to join the event will be emailed to you 24 hours before the talk takes place, so do keep an eye on your inbox. If you have any problems accessing the talk or have not received the link to the talk by 5pm on the day of the talk, please contact digitalevents@pallant.org.uk.
