A festive feast of knitted treats.
Kate’s Bakes features all you would expect to buy in a bakery at Christmas – the only difference is everything on display is knitted and crocheted with touches of embroidery and a large dollop of humour.
Kate Jenkins is known for her crochet and knitted works which reinvent everyday items in wool and yarn with wry comic touches. ‘Kate’s Bakes’ is her latest installation, comprising of a beautifully detailed knitted and crocheted bakery complete with knitted sourdough breads, baguettes, croissants, bagels and patisserie cakes. Kate has added mince pies, gingerbread men and candy canes to give the installation a festive twist this Christmas.
Kate Jenkins was educated in Cardiff and later graduated from the University of Brighton in 1995 with a BA Hons degree in Fashion & Textiles. She has worked with hundreds of well-known labels and fashion designers in the UK and abroad including Top Man, Ralph Lauren, Kate Spade, Anthropologie. She is best known for her creative installations which reimagine everyday from a tin of sardines to entire market stalls in crocheted and knitted art.
