Adult Workshop | Landscape painting inspired by Ivon Hitchens
£35
[ Workshop )
We ask that you attend the workshop in comfortable clothes (some activity will be on the floor).
Explore landscape through colour and brush strokes and create an abstract artwork inspired by Ivon Hitchens.
After looking at the paintings in the exhibition and discussing Ivon Hitchens’ Sussex-inspired work, we will look more closely at how he used colour and mark-making to interpret the landscapes around his home and in particular water.
Heading back to the studio, we will have the chance to experiment with colour and different mark-making techniques to create our own Hitchens-inspired painting.
Artist Educator Jo Dowers:
I am a Sussex artist & since completing my Fine Art Painting degree in Leicester, I have continued to sketch & paint, exhibiting regularly in both group & solo exhibitions including having work selected & exhibited for the National Open Art exhibition & Community Arts exhibitions at Pallant House Gallery, my work is also being showcased on an ongoing basis at the Montague Gallery in Worthing & Seasons Studios, part of Worthing’s East Beach Studios.
Watercolour is my passion, inspired by landscapes & nature as well as the wonderful watercolour works of Turner, Dufy & Klee.
I also love experimenting with different techniques which is reflected in the more recent botanical watercolour & acrylic print pieces.
I run Creative Art Workshops in Arundel, Angmering, Midhurst & Denmans Gardens, Fontwell with the key focus on
exploring & experimenting with a variety of water-based media & techniques in a relaxed & friendly environment.
I have been a volunteer with the Community Arts at Pallant House Gallery in Chichester for a number of years & last year was delighted to be asked to join their team of Artist/Educators.
I have also recently been accepted to become a member of the Sussex Watercolour Society & look forward to exhibiting with them.
