Pallant House Gallery’s Community Programme Ambassadors win prestigious Marsh Award for Museum Learning.
We are thrilled to announce that Pallant House Gallery’s Community Programme Ambassadors have been awarded the prestigious Marsh Award for Museum Learning – Volunteer Team of the Year for the South East region! This accolade, presented by the British Museum in partnership with the Marsh Charitable Trust, celebrates the incredible dedication and generosity of our Ambassadors in sharing their personal experiences to enhance the gallery’s engagement with visitors and the wider community.
The Marsh Award recognises the essential role museum volunteers play across the UK in engaging audiences, and we are honored to be part of this legacy. For sixteen years, the Volunteers for Museum Learning award has celebrated the contributions of volunteers who support museum learning, science, conservation, and heritage. Our Community Programme Ambassadors have made a profound difference in how visitors perceive Pallant House Gallery, understand the value of our Community Programme, and connect with the art created by its members.
Through meaningful interactions with visitors, school groups, and stakeholders, the Ambassadors provide invaluable insight into the impact of the gallery’s work, and their contributions make a lasting impression. The recognition highlights the importance of the Ambassadors’ efforts, particularly in promoting the creativity and inclusivity that define our Community Programme exhibitions.
Sarah Saunders, Head of Learning and National Partnerships at the British Museum, commended the vital role volunteers play in enriching the museum experience for visitors. “Volunteers across the UK have made an enormous impact this year, helping people enjoy diverse collections. They help tell compelling stories, reveal remarkable histories, engage audiences, and contribute to visitors’ wellbeing,” she said.
As part of their recognition, our Ambassadors receive a cash prize of £500, generously donated by the Marsh Charitable Trust. The Volunteers for Museum Learning award is one of several Marsh Awards designed to celebrate individuals and teams across various fields, including conservation, ecology, and heritage, who are committed to making the world a better place.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Community Programme Ambassadors for this well-deserved award and for their unwavering dedication to sharing the joy and value of art with our community. We are immensely proud to see their efforts recognised on such a prestigious national platform.
Thank you to the British Museum and Marsh Charitable Trust for shining a spotlight on the remarkable work of volunteers who continue to enrich museums across the UK.
