Renovations to our Historic House

Vital Repairs
Between the 15 April and 24 May 2024, contractors will be undertaking essential maintenance to the rear of Pallant House, its parapet and its roof.
As a stunning example of 18th-century architecture, work is required from time to time to keep the historic Queen Anne Townhouse in good condition. We are working hard with Chichester District Council and the appointed contractors to make these improvements with minimum impact to the building, and in line with its listed status.
Repairs and decoration of woodwork, repointing of brickwork, lead work to the parapet and replacing the pill box door and roof will be undertaken from scaffolding erected across the height and width of the rear of the house.
The scaffolding will be erected in the courtyard in the area between the beech hedges and the back of the house. The rest of the garden will remain accessible and Pallant Café will be operating as normal.
We’re working hard to ensure the works do not disrupt the experience inside the gallery. The rooms of the historic house will be open according to the change over timetable below, as we prepare for the new season of exhibitions.
