Harold Gilman: Beyond Camden Town

[ Talk )

This event has passed.

During the last decade of Gilman’s life, his work displayed an increasing engagement with French post-impressionist painting, in particular the influence of Cezanne, van Gogh and Gauguin. He developed a style quite unlike other Camden Town painters and his mentor Walter Richard Sickert.

This talk examines works painted in the last decade of Gilman’s life, before his untimely death at 43 in 1919.

Lara Wardle and James Rawlin are the co-curators of our lead spring exhibition, Harold Gilman: Beyond Camden Town.
