Summer Serenity at Bishop’s Palace Gardens

1 - 4pm

[ Workshop )

This is a festival of Chichester event. You can book tickets on their website via the button below.

Indulge in a day of art and relaxation amidst the picturesque Bishop’s Palace Gardens. Led by artist Helen Friend, this tranquil workshop invites you to connect with nature, find inner peace, and express yourself through the soothing practice of drawing.

Our journey begins at 1pm, as we gather in the Bishop’s Palace Gardens. Helen will set the tone for the session, emphasising the importance of finding serenity and inspiration in our surroundings. With a shaded spot serving as our base, you’ll have the freedom to explore and discover your own drawing spots throughout the gardens. We’ll provide all the essentials for a comfortable experience, including drawing materials, light refreshments, and sunscreen.

After a relaxing warm-up exercise to ease into the day, Helen will lead a tranquil nature walk, encouraging us to immerse ourselves in the textures, colours, and sounds of the gardens. Following a brief demonstration of meditative drawing techniques, you’ll find your own peaceful spot to engage in a quiet drawing session, allowing the beauty of the surroundings to inspire your creations.

A short break will offer time to stretch, hydrate, and share initial impressions before delving back into our drawings, with Helen offering individual guidance and encouragement. Finally, we’ll reconvene to share our drawings, thoughts, and experiences, basking in the shared beauty of Bishop’s Palace Gardens.

Please note that this outdoor workshop will involve sitting on the ground, but we’ll provide blankets and cushions for your comfort. Feel free to bring along camping chairs or seating if you prefer. Drawing equipment, light refreshments, and sunscreen will be provided.
