An in-depth, five-day, practical art course in a supportive and creative environment with experienced tutor and practising artist Kate Boucher.
Grow your skills in a supportive, creative and non-prescriptive environment with experienced tutor and artist Kate Boucher. Working in response to the Gallery’s collection, develop methods for generating and exploring ideas, experiment with variety of media, mark-making techniques and different scales – taught via demonstrations and one-to-one support.
Tuesday 30 July – Saturday 3 August, 10am-4pm
Each student will have their own work-space in the Gallery’s studio where they will be encouraged to put work up in their space, use their sketchbooks and combine elements from the artists that inspire them in the Gallery. Kate will respond to the developing interests of the group, supporting each student to develop their individual style.
Also included in the programme will be a Gallery tour of Ivon Hitchens and Walter Nessler, as well as special archive access and a talk by Sarah Norris, Collections Manager. At the end of the course students will gather to show each other the work they have created and discuss insights they may have gained for how to keep the creative habit going at home. Students will not be expected to produce ‘finished’ works but rather to enjoy exploring and experimenting.
