This tour explores the changing way landscape has been depicted in art from the 18th century pastorals by the Smith Brothers of Chichester to contemporary environmental sculpture by Andy Goldsworthy. The tour considers the urban townscapes of JAM Whistler, Walter Sickert and Spencer Gore; the imapct of Cubism and Vorticism, the Romantic tradition including Paul Nash, Eric Ravilious, Graham Sutherland, and Ethelbert White to abstracts by Ivon Hitchens and Barbara Hepworth, figurative expressionist landscapes by David Bomberg and Michael Andrew’s sublime landscapes.
