Members of the public lined the streets outside Pallant House Gallery to welcome the Earl and Countess of Wessex when they visited the Gallery on Friday 8th June from 2.15-3pm as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations
The Royal Couple attended the Gallery as part of a visit to four venues in the west of the County: Canine Partners in Heyshott, The Weald & Downland Museum at Singleton, Pallant House Gallery, Chichester and the Festival of Flowers in Chichester Cathedral.
During the visit the Royal couple were given a tour of the Gallery and introduced to the spring exhibitions which included Keith Vaughan: Romanticism to Abstraction and The Art of Chichester Festival Theatre: A Celebration. They were also introduced to artists Ron King and Pamela Howard as well as staff and participants from the Gallery's pioneering Community programme.
Director of Pallant House Gallery, Stefan van Raay said: " We were delighted to be a part of their programme. Myself, our chairman and the chair of friends were very excited to have the Royal couple visit us, it was an honour and I am really pleased."
Following the visit members of the public were invited to join a special Diamond Jubilee Royal tea at Field & Fork at Pallant House Gallery.
