The artist, who was born in London in February 1922 and studied at the Royal Academy Schools and Slade School of Fine Art, was often dubbed the Father of Pop. The Gallery holds several important works by Hamilton including ‘Swingeing London '67 which incorporates a screen print taken from a Daily Mail photograph of Mick Jagger and Robert Fraser being driven to Chichester Magistrates Court following their arrest at the home of Keith Richards at Redlands in West Sussex.
