For the past three years, BA (Hons) Fine Art students from Northbrook College have been invited to create a series of imaginative site-specific artworks in locations within both the historic town house and the contemporary wing at Pallant House Gallery.
The project takes place over the course of the year in which groups of Fine Art students and their tutors meet at Pallant House Gallery to discuss ideas for making rebellious and surprising artworks that can be situated anywhere in the gallery in a playful challenge to the perception that art belongs just on the walls. The result is an annual exhibition of installations throughout the Gallery.
Teresa Whitfield, Course Leader at Northbrook, applauds the scheme for the industry experience it equips the students with: "It requires students to undertake the professional task of creating a proposal, as well as the chance to exhibit in a very public space."
