The Important Things Project was a collaborative series of art workshops that took place in Chichester in the winter of 2010/11.

The aim of the project was to offer people with learning disabilities and those who are marginalized by other issues, the opportunity to express things that are important to them and their wellbeing by creative exploration.

The workshops explored ways of articulating personal issues and emotions through developing ideas and artwork. Initial drawings led to both traditional and digital processes of printing, manipulation and embellishment of papers and textiles.

The workshops took place at the Boys club and the Starburst Arts studios at The Wrenford Centre in Chichester.

The participants included members of Starburst Arts, The Chichester Outreach group, The Tea and Chat drop in group, The Apuldram Centre.

The Important Things project was created and supported by Starburst Arts. It was supported and funded by The West Sussex Arts and Health Network.

It was co-ordinated and facilitated by Sally Christopher, and also formed part of her research for a Masters degree in Inclusive arts practice at The University of Brighton.
