Kirker’s popular series of concerts returns, with a very special performance which marks the centenary of the end of World War One. Tenor Joshua Ellicott will read from his great-uncle’s letters sent home from the Western Front to his parents. Jack Ellicott was killed in action on the Somme in 1915, aged 21. In addition to these very personal readings this uniquely moving programme will include songs on the theme of war with works by Ireland, Finzi, Bridge, Mahler and Wood’s ‘Roses of Picardy,’ accompanied by piano.
