In the mid-20th century, after years of austerity and rationing, food writer Elizabeth David inspired British households with her books on European cuisines and traditional British dishes. John Minton, whose work reflected the sense of escapism invoked by David's books, illustrated her first two titles. Join David's biographer Lisa Chaney for a unique insight into a food writer who, like Minton, could reflect the spirit of place.
Throughout August, two special dishes inspired by Elizabeth David will be included on Pallant Restaurant's á la carte menu. For every Elizabeth David inspired dish sold, Pallant Restaurant will donate £1 to the Gallery.
Ticket booking for the forthcoming events season opens to the public on Tuesday 13 June 2017, unless otherwise stated. If you would like to book tickets to our events, please telephone the Gallery on 01243774557. The booking office is closed on Mondays.
